Noticing the seasons
Small changes make familiar places feel new.
Seasonal changes often arrive a little at a time. The light lasts longer in the evening, a tree begins to flower, or a familiar path is covered with fallen leaves.
Everyday surroundings offer plenty of subjects.
You do not need a special trip to find something worth photographing. A window reflection, a row of bicycles, or the shadows on a wall can make an interesting picture.
Take one photograph from where you first noticed the subject, then move a few steps. Get lower, look for a simpler background, or wait for the light to change.
Choose a few photographs to keep rather than saving every frame. A small collection is easier to revisit and helps you notice the subjects you return to.

A place for ideas that would otherwise slip away.
A notebook is useful when it is easy to reach and simple to use. It can hold a shopping list, a sketch, a recipe idea, or the name of a book someone recommended.
